ELIGIBILITY & REGULATORY

Daily fantasy sports are regulated state-by-state. Here's where Rocket DFS operates, the age and verification rules, and where we stand on taxes.

Jurisdiction disclosure. The list below reflects where Rocket DFS operates. It can change as state rules change, and we update this page when it does. Eligibility is applied from the state of residence and date of birth you give us when you register — you cannot deposit or enter paid contests from a restricted jurisdiction. We do not check your location by IP address and we do not run identity verification; see identity verification below for exactly what we do and do not check.

WHAT “UNDER REVIEW” MEANS

A few states — including Texas — sit in an Under review status rather than a hard yes/no. Here's exactly what that means for you.

What the review is
Our legal team is analyzing each state's daily-fantasy-sports statutes and any pending attorney-general guidance to confirm a skill-game exemption before we accept real-money play there. For Texas specifically, that means tracking the Texas Attorney General's position on paid DFS.
Timeline
A state stays real-money-disabled until its determination lands, however long that takes. We update this page whenever a status changes — check back here for the current position.
Can I create an account and play during the review?
Yes — you can create an account and play free contests from an “Under review” state. Real-money deposits and paid contests stay disabled in that state until eligibility is confirmed, so nothing you do during the review puts money at risk.
What happens to my deposits if the state is ultimately restricted?
Because real-money deposits are never enabled in an “Under review” state, there are no at-risk funds to strand. More generally, if a state you funded from later becomes restricted, your balance is never forfeited — it remains fully withdrawable and we'll help you cash out. We never keep player funds on account restriction.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

The Rocket DFS minimum age is 18, raised to 19 or 21 in states whose statutes require it. You must meet the higher of the two bars (Rocket DFS minimum, state minimum).

We check your age at signup, and again every time you try to enter a paid contest, against the date of birth on your account. That date of birth is the one you enter yourself — we do not currently match it against an identity document, so please read the identity-verification section below before you assume otherwise. Registering with a false date of birth breaches the Terms of Service.

If a minor in your household has accessed Rocket DFS, contact info@rocket-dfs.com immediately so we can lock the account.

IDENTITY VERIFICATION (KYC)

Rocket DFS does not run identity verification today. We have not asked you for an ID document, a Social Security Number, or a selfie, and we do not check your location by IP address. The only things we hold that bear on eligibility are the state of residence and the date of birth you entered when you registered, and we apply the rules on this page to those.

Identity verification is a licensing requirement for real-money play in most states, so it is something we will have to put in place before withdrawals open. It is not built yet and we have not set a date for it. When we do build it, we expect to ask for the following, and we will update this page and tell you before anything about your account changes:

  • ·Government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport)
  • ·Social Security Number (US residents) — matched against identity records to confirm who you are, not used to generate tax forms
  • ·Proof of address if your ID address is out of date (utility bill or bank statement, within 90 days)
  • ·Selfie verification for withdrawals over $5,000

Any ID documents we collect will be stored encrypted and used only for verification and regulator-mandated record-keeping. Read our privacy policy for details.

TAX REPORTING

Rocket DFS does not issue tax forms. We have not collected a taxpayer identification number from you and we do not file anything on your behalf. Daily fantasy winnings are taxable income whether or not a form is issued, so reporting them is your responsibility.

The federal reporting threshold that generally applies to this kind of income is $600 of net winnings in a calendar year, where net winnings = total winnings − total entry fees − refunds. If a reporting obligation ever applies to your account, we will contact you at your account email address and tell you what we need before anything is filed. We will not ask for a Social Security Number out of the blue.

Keep your own records in the meantime: you can download your full transaction history from the wallet page, and entry fees, winnings and refunds are itemised by type so you can work the figure out yourself.

State income tax may also apply depending on your state of residence. Rocket DFS does not withhold state tax — you're responsible for any payments owed.

This is informational. Rocket DFS is not your tax advisor — consult a licensed professional for specific questions about your tax situation.
