Gridiron Wordle is the free daily puzzle on Rocket DFS. There is no salary cap, no lineup and no entry fee — just one mystery NFL player and six chances to name him. If you know football, you can play it in two minutes; if you do not play daily fantasy at all, this is the door in.
It is also the only game here that runs all 365 days. The pool mixes current starters with retired greats, so February and July have a puzzle exactly the way October does.
How it works
Every day at midnight Eastern a new mystery player is selected, and every player on the platform gets the same one. Search for any NFL player and lock in a guess; the row lights up across seven clue columns — team, position, age, NFL experience, college conference, draft round and Pro Bowls. Green means an exact match, gold means close (same division, same position group, within two years, within one round or Pro Bowl), and gray means no match at all. The number columns add an arrow pointing toward the answer. You have six guesses to narrow it down, and when the board is finished you get a spoiler-free emoji grid to share.

When it runs
Daily, year-round. The puzzle resets at midnight Eastern and stays open for the whole day — start it at 11:59pm and you still get all six guesses.
Working a puzzle out in four
You open with a quarterback. Team is gray, position is gray, but age comes back gold with a down arrow and draft round is green on round 1. So the answer is a first-rounder a year or two younger than your guess, and not a quarterback.
Your second guess, a receiver, turns the position cell gold — same position group, wrong position. That points at a tight end. College conference lands gold too: not the same conference, but the same Power 4 grouping.
Guess three is a first-round tight end from a Power 4 school. Team goes gold — right division, wrong team — and Pro Bowls comes back within one.
That is enough. Guess four names the right man, the row goes all green, and you copy a four-row grid into the group chat without spoiling a single clue.
